Having said that, I was at one in New York last year, and it reminded me of a high school playground, all the cool kids sat at one end and didnt mix. However I met some really cool people so it was worthwhile...!
Yay! Cool Kids all at one end! Geek apartheid! Yay!
The trick to keeping these events fun is too re-arrange the seating after every course.
I'd say come along. But of course, I would.
